SERIES NATURE OF WORK: The PLCB Marketing Analyst job series describes work in the development and analysis of marketing initiatives for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB).
DEFINITION: This is entry level training work in the development of professional marketing programs within the PLCB.
An employee in this job participates in on-the-job training to develop understanding and competence in marketing initiatives for the PLCB. Work includes participating in work groups focusing on store renovations and placement, advertising and promotions, branding, or writing or editing ad copy. Work may also include participating in the analytical review of proposed marketing initiatives or after event reviews and participating in in-store merchandising and plan-o-gram efforts. Employees in this job will work with a more experienced analyst or supervisor, but as learning progresses, employees will participate in more complex assignments with greater independence. Training and development activities are directed by a higher level Marketing Analyst who monitors employees for progress.

• Participates in on–the-job and formal training programs.
• Drafts narration and dialogue for radio, television, or internet based advertisements.
• Drafts creative copy for promotional items such as billboards, advertisements, free standing inserts, or in-store point of sale materials.
• Utilizes various computer programs to manage data.
• Develops and edits store specific plan-o-grams using specialized software.
• Assists in the review of sales and other data in order to determine the impact of promotional activities and determine the return on investments.
• Assists in providing analytical review of promotional events in order to provide critical feedback on results.
• Visits stores and participates in site reviews for adherence to various marketing initiatives and reports on the consistency of message and compliance to centralized themes and brand adherence.
• Performs related work as required.
ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of utilizing spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: (NOTE: Based on the Entry Level Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities):
• A bachelor’s degree;
or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
