SERIES NATURE OF WORK: The Digital Director job series describes work involving the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the digital communications program for an agency.
DEFINITION: This is professional work assisting in managing a digital communications program in an agency Press/Communications office.
An employee in this job assists in planning and developing an agency’s digital communications program. Work involves assisting with the following activities: website content management and analytical activities, developing and utilizing social media tools, and managing digital projects to improve the agency’s digital communications program. Work is performed independently and is reviewed by the agency’s Digital Director for effectiveness and alignment with the agency’s digital communications strategy.

• Assists in managing the agency’s website content and implementing search engine optimization (SEO) strategies.
• Designs and/or produces digital products, including graphics and videos, for social media and web use, with direction from the Digital Director.
• Assists with monitoring, reviewing, and interpreting web and social media analytics.
• Recommends social media campaigns, digital marketing campaigns, website applications, and content changes.
• Performs the full range of supervisory duties.
• Employees in this job may participate in the performance of subordinates’ work consistent with operational or organizational requirements.
• Performs related work as required.
ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of a communications program.
• Knowledge of the various media used in a communications program.
• Ability to read and interpret written documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Knowledge of the agency’s programs and mission.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of planning and conducting a digital communications program.
• Knowledge of digital writing and editing techniques.
• Knowledge of social media platforms.
• Knowledge of content management systems.
• Knowledge of web and social media analytics programs.
• Knowledge of graphic design and video programs.
• Ability to use social media platforms to convey an agency’s communications objectives.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: (NOTE: Based on the Entry Level Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities):
• Two years of professional communications experience and a bachelor’s degree;
or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience
