JOB TITLE: RESIDENTIAL SERVICES UNIT MANAGER

JOB CODE: 30211

DEFINITION: This is administrative work directing therapeutic and habilitative programs within a residential unit at a state-operated facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

An employee in this job plans, develops, implements, and evaluates a full range of therapeutic and habilitative programs and clinical supportive services. Work involves ensuring the provision of housekeeping, dietary, laundry, and other core services. Work also involves meeting with supervisory staff and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate programs and services, as well as interaction and communication with families and related community agencies. Supervision is exercised over non-professional and/or professional staff. Work is performed within the broad framework of departmental and facility policies and procedures and is reviewed by an administrative supervisor through conferences and the evaluation of the effectiveness of unit operations.

• Plans, directs and coordinates all therapeutic and habilitative programs and services within a residential unit.

• Develops and maintains a system to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services.

• Oversees risk and incident management within assigned areas.

• Maintains and monitors treatment records.

• Performs the full range of supervisory duties.

• Employees in this job may participate in the performance of subordinates’ work consistent with operational or organizational requirements.

• Performs related work as required.

ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the principles and methods in developing and evaluating individual therapeutic and habilitative support plans.

• Knowledge of therapeutic care practices and principles for individuals with disabilities.

• Knowledge of the principles and methods of supervision.

• Ability to analyze and interpret written and numerical data.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Ability to communicate effectively orally.

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: (NOTE: Based on the Entry Level Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities):

• Three years professional therapeutic experience in a residential program providing rehabilitative, restorative, or habilitative care program services for individuals with a developmental disability, including two years in a supervisory capacity, and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, psychology, social work, education, nursing, business, or hospital administration;

or

• An equivalent combination of professional experience and training which includes two years supervisory experience in a residential program providing rehabilitative, restorative, or habilitative care program services for individuals with a developmental disability.
