DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROGRAM ANALYST

DEFINITION: This is professional work in planning, developing, and monitoring the drug and alcohol program.

An employee in this class collects, organizes, analyzes, and presents data for planning, developing, and monitoring of public and private drug and/or alcohol programs. Work involves the development and recommendation of plans, policies, and/or standards to enhance the effectiveness of drug and/or alcohol programs. Work is performed with considerable independence with a general review upon completion.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: Collects, organizes, analyzes, and presents data for planning, developing, and monitoring of public and private drug and/or alcohol programs.

Collects and analyzes information required to develop drug and alcohol program policies.

Develops and/or revises drug and alcohol program regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures.

Collects, analyzes, and prepares data for state and Federal planning.

Reviews drug and/or alcohol programs for compliance with state and Federal requirements.

Provides technical assistance to public and private agencies in the development and evaluation of drug and/or alcohol programs.

Advises public and private agencies of Federal and state requirements concerning planning, contract development, funding, program services, and other drug and/or alcohol related matters.

Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of community, regional, and state planning as related to social service and human development programs.

Knowledge of the factors involved in developing social service and human development programs.

Knowledge of drug and alcohol program developments.

Knowledge of Federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines related to drug and alcohol programs.

Knowledge of the socio-economic problems related to drug and alcohol abuse.

Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration.

Ability to develop, interpret, and evaluate program policies and procedures.

Ability to plan, organize, and carry out assignments effectively.

Ability to review, analyze, and make recommendations concerning drug and alcohol programming.

Ability to present the results of analysis and evaluation effectively in oral and written form.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, subordinates, and representatives of other governmental agencies.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Two years of professional experience in social service or human development programs including one year of program planning, developing, and monitoring experience of the same; and a bachelor's degree;
