GRAPHIC SERVICES CENTER MANAGER
DEFINITION: This is responsible administrative and managerial work in directing the activities of a multi-agency graphic services center that reproduces a wide variety of graphic materials for a group of agencies, boards, and commissions.
The employee in this class are responsible for providing duplicating services to a group of agencies including the reproduction of a wide variety of printed materials. Work includes determining the most effective and efficient method for reproducing printed materials, recommending the purchase of equipment, developing work standards, and procedures, preparing cost estimates, contracting work with vendors, and coordinating duplicating needs with agency officials. Supervision is exercised over a large staff of supervisory, technical and support personnel. Supervision is received through periodic reports, conferences, and an evaluation of results.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Manages the operation of a multi-agency graphic services center including the supervision of a large staff of technical and support personnel.
Plans and coordinates the activities of subordinate supervisory personnel.
Confers with agency officials to provide graphic services available through the center.
Devises procedures and standards for duplicating printing matter for agencies serviced by the duplicating center.
Reviews duplicating requests to determine compliance with standards.
Reviews equipment needs and recommend purchase to improve duplicating services to agencies.
Establishes and maintains contact with vendors of printing and duplicating materials and equipment.
Prepares cost estimates to determine the most economical methods to provide duplicating services.
Performs related work as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the duplication of printed matter.
Thorough knowledge of the relative cost for producing a wide variety of printed materials.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and procedures of forms control and distribution.
Thorough knowledge of printing equipment used to duplicate a wide variety of printed materials.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with agency officials, staff, and vendors.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of a large staff providing a variety of duplicating services.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with department officials, vendors and subordinates.
