AGING CARE MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR II
Definition: This is supervisory work managing all care management programs in a small to moderate sized agency or supervising the protective services unit in a large county Area Agency on Aging program.
Employees in this class supervise and/or monitor a combination of services which are provided directly or through subcontractors. This class will be used to allocate positions which are responsible for the protective services program or to allocate positions responsible for a variety of programs in a large Area Agency on Aging. Employees are expected to be familiar with all the laws, rules, regulations and operating procedures involved in the program(s) supervised. The responsibilities of this position include training subordinate staff in the proper methods of functioning in the respective aging program assigned. Supervision is received from a program supervisor or from an agency administrator based on unit activity reports and adherence to established program rules and regulations.
Examples of Work: Supervise the protective services program and insures that cases are investigated, evaluated and maintained in accordance with appropriate laws, rules and regulations.
Supervises care managers and care management supervisors who are engaged in the provision of a wide variety of services for older adults.
Develops, through individual and group conferences, the subordinates' efficiency and skill in determining the provision of services within established policy to aid the client in utilizing his potential for self-reliance and providing other related services in such a way as to result in the client's utilizing all available resources.
Reviews and analyzes case records for completeness and adherence to established standards.
Participates in the planning and implementation of in-service training activities.
Evaluates staff performance and makes recommendations regarding personnel actions.
Plans and supervises the administrative aspects of the work such as assigning and reviewing cases.
Prepares correspondence, compiles reports and maintains records.
Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of casework principles and methods.
Knowledge of current social, economic and health problems and community resources as related to older adults.
Knowledge of individual and group behavior and ways of working effectively with older adults who have social, economic, emotional and/or health problems.
Knowledge of the basic principles and methods of program interpretation and community organization.
Knowledge of basic principles and practices of supervision.
Skill in the development of plans to address the needs of vulnerable older adults.
Ability to work effectively with older adults and to aid them to grow in the constructive use of their potential in adjusting to their specific problems.
Ability to evaluate work of subordinates and to provide technical assistance and guidance.
Ability to orient and instruct subordinates on procedures, techniques, laws and regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, other members of the staff, outside agencies and institutions, and the general public.
Ability to clearly express ideas orally and in writing.
Minimum Experience and Training: Four years of experience in public or private social work; and a Bachelor's Degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
