AGING CARE MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR III
Definition: This is managerial supervisory work in care management activities in a county Area Agency on Aging program.
An employee in this class serves as the care management manager or director of social services for a large county Area Agency on Aging. Work involves supervising several lower level supervisors responsible for the implementation of a variety of care management activities. The specific programs supervised may be provided directly by the agency or provided through sub-contractors. Supervision is received from the agency administrator or deputy administrator through written reports, periodic conferences and central office evaluation of adherence to rules and regulations.
Examples of Work: Supervises the work of care management supervisors who are responsible for the implementation and provision of a wide variety of services in a large Area Agency on Aging.
Plans and implements in-service training activities.
Develops and maintains the county's aging social service program, including development of local policy.
Evaluates and recommends changes in state policy and procedures.
Evaluates staff performance and makes recommendations on personnel actions.
Plans and supervises the administrative aspects of the work such as determining budgetary and personnel needs, and monitoring production and work flow.
Prepares correspondence, compiles reports and maintains records.
Extensive contact with other agencies and community institutions.
Interprets the program to the community.
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledges, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of social casework principles and methods.
Knowledge of current social, economic and health problems and community resources as related to older adults.
Knowledge of individual and group behavior and ways of working effectively with older adults who have social, economic, emotional, and/or health problems.
Knowledge of the basic principles and methods of program interpretation and community organization.
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of supervision and management.
Ability to work effectively with older adults and aid them to grow in the constructive use of their potential in adjusting to their specific problems.
Ability to manage a large work force engaged in a variety of care management activities.
Ability to evaluate work of subordinates and to provide technical assistance and guidance.
Ability to orient and instruct subordinates on procedures, techniques, laws and regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, other members of the staff, outside agencies and institutions, and the general public.
Ability to clearly express ideas orally and in writing.
Minimum Experience and Training: Five years of experience in public or private social work, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; and a Bachelor's Degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.
