SERIES NATURE OF WORK: The Product and Supply series describes work in the processing, forecasting, acquisition, pricing, and distribution of products for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB).

DEFINITION: This is entry level trainee work in the product selection, marketing, sales, and supply chain functions of the PLCB.

An employee in this job participates in on-the-job training to develop understanding and skills related to the analytical review, evaluation, acquisition, pricing, sales, allocation, and distribution of wine and spirits. Work includes gathering product information and participating in product evaluation, vendor negotiation, category management, procurement methods, demand forecasting, or product replenishment. Employees in this job will work with a more experienced analyst or supervisor but, as learning progresses, employees will participate in more complex assignments with greater independence. Training and development activities are directed by a higher-level analyst who monitors employees for progress.

• Participates in on-the-job and formal training programs.

• Participates in the review of replenishment rates for products in PLCB distribution centers and assists in the calculation of resupply velocities for all products in assignment area.

• Analyzes replenishment rates at the stores and distribution centers and ensures vender compliance with established inventory levels.

• Analyzes sales patterns for an assigned group of stores and assists in setting parameters within forecasting or replenishment applications.

• Assists in the investigation of delays, breakage, shortages, and other problems.

• Applies policies and procedures related to inventory controls or shipping requirements.

• Reviews, researches, and tastes products submitted for consideration by vendors.

• Assists in the purchasing of products through approved vendors and creates purchase orders for new products or one-time buys.

• Participates in the testing and development of new software applications, procedures, and policies.

• Assists in the review of proposed marketing strategy and recommends adjustments.

• Participates in promotional and marketing meetings to learn fundamentals of product marketing, advertising, and promotion.

• Develops and distributes signage and other communications to stores.

• Performs related work as required.

ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite software.

• Ability to analyze and interpret written information and numerical data.

• Ability to communicate effectively orally.

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: (NOTE: Based on the Entry Level Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities):

• A bachelor’s degree;

or

• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
