EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION ASSOCIATE

DEFINITION: This is professional work in reviewing and providing advisory services on a statewide educational administration program, generally of a mandated nature.

Employees in this class are primarily involved with ensuring compliance with rules and regulations by reviewing statistical, narrative and financial information and assisting school unit personnel in resolving difficult and sensitive program problems. Employees conduct and direct comprehensive reviews of a school unit's program to recommend general and specific improvements. Employees may have immediate responsibility for a s single-function program or a significant part of a multi-faceted program. Employees monitor compliance of school units with required program services and actions. Employees direct special studies within program areas to improve/expand services and conduct training sessions on new administrative methods and procedures. Employees in this class should become involved in intra- and inter-bureau projects within other administrative areas.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: Reviews statistical, narrative and financial information for accuracy, completeness, proper format, and compliance with program requirements.

Conducts and directs analytical and evaluative reviews of school unit programs or proposed programs to determine efficiency, economy and need; recommends revisions and/or additions to improve the program.

Answers procedural questions and interprets program policy for school unit personnel, individual citizens and groups, legislators, etc.

Advises school unit personnel on more economical and/or efficient methods of conducting programs.

Analyzes existing information reporting procedures for effectiveness and necessity; assists in developing improved methods.

Conducts workshops, seminars and conferences relating new procedures and methods to school unit personnel; explains changes of program intent and services.

Serves as departmental liaison person for school unit personnel in dealing with the various steps involved in receiving program approval; informs school unit personnel of proper routine of information and obtains answers to questions relating to the approval procedure.

Participates in reviews such as school building site selection and strike teams; makes recommendations as needed to resolve the situation.

Conducts and directs special studies and research projects to improve and/or expand program services.

Reviews proposed legislation to determine and comment upon its desirability.

Performs related work as required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of sound and practical administrative procedures, methods and concepts.

Ability to learn program rules, regulations and procedures of administration.

Ability to learn relationships between administrative program services and the overall educational program.

Ability to analyze and evaluate statistical narrative and financial information as per its relations to program requirements.

Ability to develop and present recommendations on improvement of procedures for program administration.

Ability to learn to develop and present recommendations for new and/or revised methods of program services delivery.

Ability to interpret established program policies and to explain program procedures and regulations.

Ability to communicate ideas and concepts orally and in writing.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with other people.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Two years of professional experience in education or educational administration;
