STATISTICAL ASSISTANT L0390
Definition: This is entry level technical and minor supervisory work in collecting, processing, reviewing, and compiling quantified data.
An employee in this class supervises the collection, processing, and compilation of quantified data and reviews the completed tabulations for accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data presented. Work includes maintaining non-routine contacts with reporting agencies and personnel to clarify or complete inaccurate or atypical information. Work usually involves training subordinates and reporting personnel in the procedures of data reporting and the definition of terms in subject areas to insure the uniformity, relevance, and reliability of data collected and processed. Employees edit tabulations, compilations, and source documents to determine errors, bias, deficiencies, or significant deviations from normal or anticipated parameters. Work usually involves supervising and reviewing the work of assistants engaged in collecting and compiling quantified data for interpretation and analysis, publication, or inclusion in reports. In the absence of supervisory duties, work is correspondingly more difficult and requires the application of program or academic knowledges to prepare reports and compilations. Supervision is received in the form of detailed instructions on new assignments and completed work is reviewed for accuracy and conformance to procedures and instructions.
