Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Provides public safety work in the field of State Park operations and outdoor recreation in order to promote the safe utilization of facilities at Kettle Creek State Park Complex. This is a primary public contact position. The person in this position is required to wear a prescribed field uniform and work weekends and holidays.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Meets with park visitors to answer questions regarding park facilities, recreational schedules, park history and environmental features, and surrounding area. Explains park rules, regulations, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives to park visitors and special interest groups; and prepares and delivers presentations to school groups, civic groups, sportsmen associations, and other special interest groups on State Parks rules, regulations, policies, procedures, goals, objectives, facilities, schedules, history, and environmental features.

Ensures that campground permits and reports are posted in a timely manner.

Takes action during emergency situations, such as water and automobile accidents to ensure visitor safety and to bring situation under control.

Travels park area by various motorized vehicles, boats, bicycle and on foot. Explains park rules, regulations, policies and procedures to park visitors and special interest groups. Informs Park Manager or DCNR Ranger if visitor actions require additional law enforcement actions.

Administers first aid, including artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to injured park visitors. Also trained and certified to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Covers the front desk of the office as needed to answer phones, make reservations and assist visitors.

Organizes and conducts search and rescue operations to locate lost visitors on State Park grounds and boundaries.

Monitors security of park buildings and facilities.

Inspects buildings and park structures for cleanliness, serviceability and safety hazards.

Prepares and writes courtesy notices, parking tickets and incident reports as necessary.

Maintains a daily log of activities and submits to the park manager for review.

Assists with the maintenance of a Lost and Found program established by the park manager or DCNR Ranger.

Assists in providing information, making reservations, issuing permits and collecting fees from park offices and contact station using PRRS. Distributes camping receipts to campsites and posts reservations on campsites and picnic pavilions.

Performs related duties as required.

Employee determines if park rules and regulations are being violated, and responds accordingly, informing Park Manager or DCNR Ranger if further action is warranted. Employee determines and addresses safety concerns within the park; answers questions from the public regarding the park’s features and activities; and recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
