Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is semi-skilled manual work in the construction and maintenance of various public works projects. Position performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker; or may function as lead worker for a small crew of manual workers performing routine tasks. Work involves the use of a large variety of construction and maintenance equipment and tools in many different tasks, which frequently require the application of skills acquired on the job. Position receives oral instructions, and work is checked by inspection during process and upon completion. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. The examples of work are representative of the work, but every position classified to this position may not perform all examples work listed. Conversely, this is not an all-inclusive list of work examples. -Drives a light truck to transport personnel and materials to and from field locations; and assists in the performance of the job. -Cuts grass with weed eater, use hand power mower, riding lawn mower, rake leaves and debris. Trim and plant shrubs and flowers. -Load and unload truck; move furniture and/or equipment. -Dig ditches, clean culverts or manholes and tunnels. -Perform snow removal. -Makes repairs to buildings and building facilities; and uses tools of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other building trades in the performance of maintenance work. -Acts as a helper to skilled trades workers and / or Maintenance Repairman 2’s and assists them in performance of their duties / completion or work orders; be able to use hand tools. Erect scaffolds, climb ladders, run cement mixers, use wheelbarrows. -Assist in demolition and removal of debris from job sites. -Paints walls, ceilings, woodwork, and trim by preparation or surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, strippers, or all tools associated with this trade. -Ability to communicate effectively in writing. -Ability to read and interpret written material, including road or trail maps and instructions. -Performs related work as required. |

Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. Communicates with Foreman and / or Facility Maintenance Managers for input on decisions regarding non-routine, unusual situations / circumstances and material acquisition. |
