 Provide maintenance services to support the operations of Norristown State Hospital

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

-Maintain & repair laundry equipment such as: washers, extractors, dryers, ironers, folders, tumblers, air compressors, fans, such repairs as cleaning motor contacts, changing switches, finding & repairing troubles on equipment, replacing defective motors, repairing defective wiring. Keep machinery running electrically.
-Repair & maintenance of fire alarm system, keeping poles & cables in proper condition. Repair code sending transmitters, relays & contacts needed to keep system operating. Clean & lubricate all parts when necessary. Testing of system to make sure it functions properly.
-Regular maintenance of electrical systems including changing light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, ballasts, sockets, switches, receptacles, fuses, replacing of defective wiring to motors, lighting fixtures, & other electrical equipment.
-Repair & maintenance of battery powered trucks. Repairs as needed on steering & drive parts, changing of batteries, contacts, wiring, bearings, tires & other parts.
-Renovating of electrical wiring systems of ward buildings & doctors dwellings, such as incoming electric lines, new switches, fuse panels, new electrical circuits for air conditioning, dryers, water heaters, home heaters, ranges, etc.
-Maintenance of high tension power lines, replacing poles, cross arms on the poles, insulators, lightning arrestors, wiring & supporting guy wires as needed. Installing high tension transformers. Replacing & rewiring various types of power transformers. Maintaining associated automatic switching equipment.
-Repairing & maintenance of appliances in dietary, nursing, housekeeping and throughout the hospital.
-Knowledge of reading meters, making tests to locate problems, reading blueprints, & diagrams (both electrical & others).-Knowledge of local & state electrical codes & regulations.
-Provide, for my own use, hand tools common to my trade.
-Repair & replacement of light fixtures on asbestos ceilings. Responsibilities to include incapsulation of asbestos as related to electrical work.
-Participate in Asbestos Abatement Program, involving asbestos removal, encapsulation, etc., as pertinent to the trade. Apply appropriate work methods, specialized equipment, and safety practices to perform such tasks, according to instructions.
-Required to participate in Medical Monitoring Program and all approved asbestos training programs.
