Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Provides the thorough cleaning of patient living quarters with as many as 30 to 50 resident patients by following pre-established work schedules. Provides thorough cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms and shower rooms through the operation of pressure washers and the appropriate use of cleaning chemicals and tools as required. Provides cleaning and trash removal throughout the hospital to include recreation and therapeutic areas, offices, guest rooms, dining areas, visiting rooms, etc. Provides routine waste removal and cleaning activities associated with potentially hazardous drugs and must be trained and comply with procedures outlined in USP800. Set up work off scaffolding and ladders to wash walls, ceilings, windows, draperies, light fixtures, and air vents. Responsible for following all designated safety policies and procedures. Provides floor care by the use of dust mops, damp mops, mop buckets and wringers. May be required to strip and wax through the operation of all custodial equipment including automatic floor scrubbers, floor polishers, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, and pressure washers. Move furniture and equipment within buildings. Provide snow removal from all building entrances in accordance with WSH policy. Responsible for the loading of soiled linen for delivery to SCI Benner for processing. Filling laundry quotas for each individual area by packing linens, in order to ensure that all using areas received the necessary linens and clothing for proper patient care. Distributes linen and clothing on foot or by using electric tow truck to all areas assigned. Responsible for marking laundry/clothing to prevent loss and identify ownership. Performs heavy manual labor such as setting up ladders, scaffolding, operating and moving equipment, materials, and furniture. Perform wall washing, window washing, light and drapery cleaning, carpet extracting, stripping and waxing floors, and trash removal, the moving of furniture and equipment within buildings, loading soiled linen, unloading of clean linens to be delivered using hand trucks. Operate equipment which includes electric tow truck, battery-powered scrub machines, vacuum cleaners, pressure washer, heat seal machine, carpet extractors, pick up of dirty mops from pre-determined locations in the facility, cases of cleaning solutions and paper products. Provides the proper use of and the mixing of all chemicals used by following the label instructions. Use Safety Data Sheets for instructions to ensure proper procedures are used in the cleaning of a spill. Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc. Understands and follows oral and written instructions. Exercises care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building materials. Works effectively with others. Uses and cares for hand tools and equipment needed to accomplish cleaning assignments. Performs heavy manual labor such as setting up ladders, scaffolding, operating and moving equipment, materials and furniture, wall washing, window washing, light and drapery cleaning, carpet shampooing, stripping and waxing floors and trash removal. Equipment and materials may include operating battery-powered scrub machines, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, carpet shampooers and the pickup of deliveries of wet wop and dust heads, cases of cleaning solutions and paper products. Attends and participates in meetings and training activities as scheduled. |
