Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Employee performs semi-skilled work alone or with others and assists skilled workers in performing routine tasks in maintenance and construction at Codorus State Park. Makes repairs to buildings and facilities, using tools of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other building trades in the performance of this maintenance work. Operates and assists in the maintenance, care and cleaning of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park. Performs ground maintenance by mowing or cutting weeds and grass, using riding mowers, hand mowers, or weed eaters. Duties also include site preparation, seeding, and establishment of new turf areas; planting and maintaining trees and shrubs. Picks up litter and trash and sorts recyclable materials. Loads and moves materials in dump trucks or pick up trucks. Cleans grills and maintains picnic areas. Builds and repairs picnic tables. Installs fire rings and charcoal grills. Sweeps paved parking areas and repaints lines and bumper blocks. Cleans or replaces road signs and informational signs. Digs holes and ditches; cleans drains and culverts. Cuts firewood, trims trees and bushes, clears brush and debris; using hand saws, pruners, lopping shears, gasoline powered chain saws and pole saws. Paints and/or stains park buildings, signs, gates, etc. Responsible for the complete performance of general housekeeping and building maintenance by cleaning and supplying restrooms, shower houses, offices, pavilions, and all other buildings and structures. Makes minor routine repairs such as replacing light bulbs or tightening fixtures. Is responsible for the safe and proper use of all equipment, power tools and hand tools and is required to wear PPE. Assist park visitors and disseminates information in a friendly, helpful manner. Completes all necessary forms/records, such as daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records and leave slips. Employee may be required to use ESS for time management/associated human resource duties. Operates two-way radio in accordance with proper procedure. Performs related work as required. |
