Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is a forest technician position in Forest District 19, serving the counties of Monroe and Pike. The primary duty of this position is to serve as a Resource Management Forest Technician, assisting with the management of our natural resources as well as wildfire prevention and suppression activities in the Delaware Forest District.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.


Assist with annual resource management activities: timber, wildlife, recreation, watershed conservation, and water quality based on the State Forest Management Plan

Assist with timber sales - including stand analysis, marking timber and delineating/marking sale boundaries.

Assist with landscape/compartment examinations of the Delaware State Forest.

Assist with annual regeneration practices to ensure successful regeneration on the Delaware State Forest. Activities will include regeneration practice; boundary marking, analysis and follow up maintenance.

Assist with wildlife management practices. Practices may involve working with external organizations and agencies.

Assist with recreational facility development for the various users within the Delaware State Forest.

Protect watershed values within the Delaware State Forest.

Protect unique flora and fauna, geologic formations, and archeological features on the Delaware State Forest.

Collect various types of data with data recorders, GPS units, and utilize data with GIS software or applicable databases.

Conduct insect and disease surveys and treatment as needed.

Meet Minimum wildfire standards for Bureau of Forestry employees to be on the fire line doing wildfire suppression activities.

Engage in wildfire control, suppression, prevention, activities and fire dispatch duties, meet minimum wildfire training standards as established by the Bureau of Forestry.

Assist with prescribed fire and meet required training standards as establish by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry and PA Prescibed Fire Council.

Assist Service Foresters with Rural and Community Forestry Programs as needed within the Delaware Forest District.

Assist with the State Forest Lease Cabin Program and other recreational goals.

Other Duties as assigned.

Decision making required for planning and conducting state forest management activities in accordance to our State Forest Resource Plan.

Decision making required for planning and conducting wildfire control and suppression activities as needed.

Essential Functions
