Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position works in different areas of need at the facility. This may include the labor shop, heat shop, plumbing, paint, electric, Boiler Plant and grounds department. -Perform general duties in accordance with individual work assignments by the foreman of the shop. -Perform all types of roadwork including repairing blacktop, cementing roads, sidewalks, parking lots, curbing, gutters, catch basins, etc. -Load, haul and unload trash and debris -Help repair and maintain wooden structure, such as furniture equipment and partitions. -Assist in replacing glass. -Help in maintaining and repairing laundry equipment such as washers and dryers. -Change light bulbs & along with an electrician help in repairing & replacing fixtures, wiring, receptacles, fuses & all other electrical & battery powered equipment. -Assist the steamfitters in making repairs to the steam distribution system. -Work with the painters in the paint shop. -Prepare areas to be painted by sanding, scraping & filling cracks with spackle. -Clean piping systems, traps, machinery rooms, storm-sewers, sanitary sewers, & areas where plumbing work is in progress. -Assist & operate under supervision, grass-cutting equipment such as mowers, weed-eaters & chain saws, etc. -Pick up trash such as cups, bottles, paper, soda cans, etc. from around walks & road sites, grounds, & buildings, etc. -Shovel snow from walks, fire exits, parking lots, etc. -Rake leaves & under supervision, operate left blowing & collection equipment.
