Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This is a seasonal, semi-skilled laborer position at Fort Washington State Park Complex. The position holder is expected to complete all aspects of maintenance within the complex. This includes both Evansburg State Park and Fort Washington State Park.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Major duties include but are not limited to: Opening and cleaning park restrooms each day, opening and closing gates, emptying trash receptacles, picking up litter, cleaning out pavilions, cleaning out cooking grills, mowing grass, and trimming weeds.
Other duties:
Painting; Repairing facilities; Woods mowing; and Installing/Repairing park signs. Some equipment used includes woods rotary mower, lawn tractors, front-end loaders, dump trucks, chain saws, and a wide variety of small hand and power tools used in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry work.

An employee in this class performs work alone or assists in a work crew led by another semi-skilled, maintenance repairman, maintenance supervisor, or park manager. They also work with volunteers’/volunteer groups on a variety of projects and may also be required to act as the lead worker on these projects.

Examples of work performed:
• Cleans and maintains restrooms daily.
• Makes minor repairs to buildings and other facilities using tools of the carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and other buildings trades.
• Maintains the park(s) grounds using mowing equipment ranging from hand-push or gasoline engine mowers; to riding/tractor mowers operated from a power take-off. Weeding, using hand and power tools is also required.
• Performs minor repairs and periodic preventive maintenance of park vehicles and equipment.
• Helps with litter pick up and garbage removal as required on a daily basis and after heavy park visitor use.
• Assists with erosion control and repair projects throughout the park(s).
• Assists with tree planting and tree maintenance using manual labor, power equipment, and chain saws.
• Assists to maintain trails throughout the park(s).
• Works alongside skilled trades workers to assist with completing repair projects
• Operates tractors and other equipment in performance of duties.
• Carries out other maintenance related duties as deemed appropriate by maintenance supervisor or park manager.

Work is assigned verbally and in writing at the start of each day or prior to a weekend. Work is reviewed periodically or at the end of the completed task for completeness and quality. Work may be assigned by either the park maintenance supervisor or the park manager.
