Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The primary duty of this position is to provide services to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in relation to operating heavy equipment, with GVW of 32,001 lbs or more, for infrastructure maintenance and construction within Forest District 11. This position will also assist with wildfire suppression duties within Forest District 11.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

This is skilled work in the operation of specialized equipment and/or vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more (such as, but not limited to, a backhoe, bulldozer, road grader, front end loader, tanker, tractor trailer, and dump truck). This work will construct and maintain various infrastructure across the state forest land.

Performs manual work when not operating equipment. Work involves active participation in equipment and preventative maintenance duties and performance of related work of both an unskilled and skilled nature. Work is assigned with general instructions on a project basis, and employees proceed independently in the operation of the equipment without further instruction or assistance.

Operate vehicles for maintenance or grounds work, including snow removal and cindering operations, as needed.

Maintain vehicle logs and completes reports for review by supervisor.

Analyzes and determines proper methods and equipment to complete assigned tasks in an efficient manner.

Demonstrates safe operation of assigned equipment to other employees.

Construct and maintain parking lots for the various users within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Construct and maintain state forest roads for the various users within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Construct and maintain recreational trails for the various users within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Assist with wildfire control, prevention, suppression, and operation of fire engines.

Protect unique flora and fauna, geologic formations, and archeological features on the Pinchot State Forest.

Follow Erosion and Sedimentation Plans and best management practices when performing earth disturbing activities.

Complete PA 1 call as needed.

Oath and Duties of Pennsylvania Forest Fire Warden.

Other Duties as assigned.

 10. Utilize PA 1 call prior to beginning any earth disturbance work.
