Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position operates transportation equipment and mowers as needed to support within the department to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is a mixed position requiring the operation of mowers, trucks, buses, and maintenance equipment and performing a variety of manual duties and to load and unload commodities. This position at minimum, must possess a valid Penna. Class "B" CDL with a "P" endorsement and air brakes, and is therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations. The incumbent performs pre-trip inspections of assigned equipment. Makes visual observations, manual adjustments and reports findings in written and/or oral formats as necessary. Maintains accurate daily inspections on the Monthly Mileage Reports. Must demonstrate visual depth and peripheral acuity while performing duties. Performs other related duties, in case of voluntary/mandatory overtime due to staffing needs or bad weather. Equipment operators may also be required to perform the following functions: plow snow and clean sidewalks, spray weeds etc. Uses hand tools as needed to complete the assigned tasks. Mows, trims and/or cleans all lawns, walkways, parking areas, utility service areas and etc. Operates power equipment, tractors, mowers, vehicles, push mowers, trimmers, chain saws, and hand tools etc. Work assignments shall be made by the supervisor/manager who is in charge of operations or emergencies. |
