Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The employee in this job performs moderately complex clerical work within standard operating procedures. Work involves office or program support functions in reviewing and processing data, information, forms, and other documents; and includes the keyboarding of data and information into computer systems. The employee provides clerical support to the Nursing Department and medical staff at a nursing station which is located on the living area of the Facility. The employee interacts with residents on a daily basis. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position is under the direction of the Director of Nursing. The employee in this position performs moderately complex clerical functions for the nursing units with thoroughness and accuracy, to benefit the nursing department, residents, and all other departments. Working time percentages are approximate and will vary on a daily basis due to operational needs. 25% Requisitions supplies; receives and delivers items to appropriate areas. Completes APR’s for requisition of supplies as necessary. Maintains nursing station and bulletin board in neat and orderly fashion. Updates and prints computer-generated list for census and other monthly schedules. 20% Acts as communications facilitator for station by answering telephone, delivering mail/messages, and relaying messages. Notifies appropriate disciplines of changes in resident’s condition, transfer, or discharge. 20% Provides on-the-job training as needed. Provides coverage on other floors as needed. Performs other related duties. 10% Gathers information through research of residents’ records for review by medical personnel and outside consultants and enters the information into the residents' electronic health record (EHR). Maintains schedules for residents' treatment team meetings. Maintains resident room placement roster. Generates monthly bowel movement list, blood pressure, and weight schedule. 10% Prepares resident identification bracelets as needed. Prepares maintenance work orders. Attends in-service meetings and other educational programs to enhance proficiency and keep current with procedures. 10% Operates office equipment such as computer, photocopier, printer, shredder, addressograph, calculator, and camera. 5% Prepares clinical records for new admissions and readmissions. |
