Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position serves a variety of maintenance functions at Kinzua Bridge State Park Complex including light carpentry, plumbing, and upkeep of park grounds and facilities. Employee must be able to perform manual physical labor, and work under adverse weather conditions. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. - Performs semi-skilled work alone or assists skilled worker in performing routine tasks in the maintenance and construction at Bendigo State Park Complex.. - Makes repairs to building and facilities, using tools of carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other building trades in the performance of this maintenance work. - Cleans sanitary facilities at pool, picnic, boating, and other day-use areas along with the office and maintenance complex using broom, mop, scrub bucket, disinfectant cleaner and other materials as necessary to complete the job assignment to the satisfaction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. - Assists with pumping and cleaning pit latrines as necessary. -Assists with work in the pool area including assisting with repairs to pool surface, painting and cleaning pool surfaces and concrete deck around pool, and assisting in daily pool operation. - Installs picnic grills, park benches and other amenities at park facilities when assigned. This includes hand digging holes and mixing concrete for proper installation. -Paints and/or stains park signs; building walls, ceilings & floors; tanks and other equipment by scraping and removing old finish, mixing and applying new paint to surface using a brush, roller and/or spray gun attached to air compressor. -Assists skilled tradesmen by cutting lumber to specified lengths, using power saw; mixes concrete using a power mixer; sands lumber using a power sander; to renovate buildings, replace damaged floors, etc. to fulfill a work order. - Assists skilled tradesman with construction activities, and repairs and maintenance to pool equipment, park water systems and sewage treatment systems. -Operates chain saw for cutting storm damaged and hazardous trees, trims branches off and cuts logs into specified lengths. Operates chipper for cleanup of limbs, branches, etc. -Mows grass and maintains park grounds in assigned areas by using a power push mower, small riding mower, power weed-eater, and landscaping equipment to fulfill work order. - Uses park tractors to move materials to work sites and mow grass, blow leaves, clean park roads as assigned. -Picks up paper and trash on park grounds and disposes it in dumpsters. - Performs snow removal using manual and power snow removal equipment. -Prunes branches on trees along park roads and trails using pruning shears and pole saw to complete a work order. - Operates a motor vehicle to travel to various work sites. - Is responsible for the safe and proper use of all vehicles, equipment, power tools and hand tools and is responsible for maintenance and care of all vehicles and equipment. - Assist park visitors and distributes information in a friendly helpful manner. - Completes all necessary forms/records such as daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing records and leave slips. - Operates two-way radio in accordance with proper procedures. - Performs these duties and other general park maintenance duties at Bendigo, Elk and Kinzua Bridge State Parks as assigned by Supervisor. Performs related work as required. |
