Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides professional and technical work in the development and presentation of environmental education and interpretive programs and activities at a State Park. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Researches, develops, coordinates, presents and evaluates environmental education and interpretive programs on a variety of natural history and human history topics to the public and organized groups ranging from preschool to senior citizen groups. Using state developed themes and programs, develops and implements a series of environmental and interpretive programs focusing on the park’s natural history, historic and cultural events, and environmental management issues and conducts special activities for the park visitor. Coordinates and facilitates recreational/entertainment programs such as maple sugar festivals, Halloween programs, craft fairs, clean ups, etc. Facilitates environmental learning activities using established lesson plans including but not limited to State Parks Activities for Environmental Learning, Project Learning Tree, Project Wild, Pennsylvania Songbirds, Food Land and People and Project WET. Develops and utilizes written lesson plans in approved format for presentation of all programs. Maintains displays in the Visitor’s Center. Conducts the Bureau’s DiscoverE programs and programs for school groups (K-12). Maintains and coordinates use of environmental learning field equipment; oversees use of equipment; and makes recommendations for repair, servicing, replacement and purchase of new equipment to park manager. Prepares and distributes program and activity schedules, brochures, press releases and other correspondence. Prepares and submits required reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Develops and presents impromptu interpretive activities. Maintains program records and files. Provides environmental and historical interpretive activities including but not limited to: guided walks, tours, campfire programs, illustrated talks and field learning activities. Assists with the preparation of educational publications and exhibits. Conducts campground programming including movies, hikes and other educational related programming. MANDATORY TRAINING Required to attend various training sessions as directed. Required to attending training for CPR, First Aid and Safety from American Red Cross. |
