Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is assigned to the Application Support Unit within the Enterprise Applications Section. Principal responsibilities include: analysis, planning, design, programming, implementation, maintenance, and support for the TraCS (Traffic and Criminal Software) applications. It serves as support application developer for the Records Management Systems’ (RMS) hardcopy reports as well as the external interfaces for RMS, which is used to interface with the Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN). |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 60% Maintains and enhances the TraCS Application which is a highly complex COTS product. Maintaining the system includes supporting the Crash module (specifically the Adjudication, CDR, dl640, K9 and Warning) which is in operation 24:7; creating, modifying, maintaining, and testing TraCS forms, fields in forms (including hidden fields); updating rules in files that enforce data validation rules; auto-populating fields based on the values of other fields and replication of common information between the forms; and troubleshooting problems in TraCS forms using the TraCS Software Developer Kit (SDK). Independently designs, codes, tests, debugs and troubleshoots problems in complex applications/processes using tools/software including MS SQL server, XML, Altova Mission Kit, Team Foundation Server (TFS) and VB.NET. Serves as a back up applications developer for the interfaces between TraCS and external agencies, including RMS, AOPC, CLEAN/NCIC and PA Turnpike. Serves as the backup technical resource for the TraCS Vehicle Safety Inspection System, Radio Coverage forms, and the AOPC interface. 10% Monitor the RA account for TraCS to make sure all the processes are still functioning and either take corrective action or notify someone else as documented in the inbox instructions. 10% Using Altova Mission Kit, maintains XML stylesheets for the Warning form that goes to the RMS. 10% Provides 2nd level support to the Help Desk for identifying and troubleshooting problems with TraCS and it's external interfaces. 5% Creates technical documentation and obtains approval of the documents to ensure that all aspects of the current systems are correctly documented. Assists IT personnel in developing the logical models for the systems, process logic definitions, critical data elements, and logical system design. 5% Participates in special projects and studies as required. Performs other related duties as assigned to include those outlined in the Department’s Continuity of Government Plan when the plan is activated. Responds to the designated alternate or secondary location when directed in response to a catastrophic incident.
