Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The employee is responsible for and maintaining supply levels based on bureau needs, from ordering to receiving deliveries at the loading dock and distributing items to various work areas. Employee also transports hazardous waste to storage area, empties completed samples to ensure empty carts are available for sample receiving, coordinates return of coolers to senders after samples are removed and maintains inventory and delivery of gasses (nitrogen, helium, etc.) to labs. Employee occasionally drives fleet vehicles locally for various operational needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Independently operates the chemical storage room where maintaining precise inventory levels of laboratory chemicals and supplies; independently prepare requisitions for stock replacement and initiate accurate Electronic Purchase Requests based on physical inspections and lab requests. Maintains safety and sanitation of chemical storage room. Accurately tracks and makes supervisor aware of chemicals nearing expiration date. Develops and implements efficient storage methods, including the strategic allocation and arrangement of bins, shelving, and storage spaces to optimize workflow. Handles moving cardboard from various satellite areas in the building to main pick-up area at loading dock. Responsible for initiating complete and accurate Electronic Purchase Requests for all needed stock items based on level of inventory, requests from Lab Sections, or physically checking supply levels. Receive, properly store, and distribute chemicals and/or supply shipments to the laboratories either upon receipt (lab staff ordered for his/her own use) or upon request (Stock Clerk 2 ordered to keep in stock). Maintains and operates automated inventory system. Receive and properly tag and store liquid and specialty gas cylinders used by the Bureau. Keep accurate and complete records so the number of cylinders on hand does not exceed the expected usage. Utilize the ability to determine the quality and quantity of incoming goods in relation to prescribed specifications and safety standards. Prepare coolers for return shipment, request and affix address labels when needed. Request and affix barcodes. Occasionally assist with entering tickets in Quick Courier website for coolers to be picked up. Operate and maintain automated inventory systems; input data into DEP electronic systems following strict quality standards to ensure accuracy and eliminate duplicative entries. Handle other Bureau shipping needs as they arise (move items from lab to loading dock upon request). Discard completed samples noting date on cart to ensure samples are to be discarded. Pick up sealed, properly labeled containers of hazardous wastes from laboratory areas, transport containers to appropriate storage area upon request from lab staff (adhering to safety protocols). Transports Bureau records to records center or takes vehicles to DGS garage, carwash or gas station for maintenance/service. Transports and unpackages high-value laboratory instrumentation. Understands and promotes the four pillars of the DEP Vision - Operational Excellence, Climate Leadership, Cultural Competence and Environmental Justice. Inputs appropriate data in a prescribed format to meet data quality standards set forth by guidance, training, and policy across all of DEP’s electronic data systems; to include ensuring accuracy and completeness of entries, and where available, the use of system specific tools to ensure duplicative entries and data quality issues are minimized.
