Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides public contact, customer service, and safety work at Pine Grove Furnace State Park in order to promote the safe and proper utilization of park facilities and services. Work involves preparing and delivering informational presentations to park visitors and groups on subjects related to park facilities, features, programs, and operations; patrolling park grounds, boundaries, and facilities for safety and compliance; and directing traffic along roads, trails, and in parking areas. Work includes administering first-aid, artificial respiration, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the event of an emergency; participating in fire suppression activities; and assisting with search and rescue operations. Work also includes inspecting buildings and park structures for safety hazards and to ensure compliance with lease or permit conditions; and drafting permit agreements. Work may also include operating motorboats, utility terrain vehicles, and bicycles. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed for adherence to established policies, procedures, standards, and objectives. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Assists manager, administrative assistant, and other park resource ranger's with park office administrative duties. Answers phones, emails, and assists visiting public. This can be a highly administrative position with a focus on park office front desk operations. Uses computer programs such as Windows and Microsoft Office/Teams to do a variety of tasks. Prepares correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other written materials and inputs data using a personal computer. Provides information, makes reservations, create reports, issues permits and collects fees using Active Works Outdoors reservation system. Distributes camping receipts to campsites and campground hosts. Presents a professional image to the general public through wearing of prescribed uniform, uniform appearance, verbal skills, courtesies, and knowledge of the park, the environment and history, rules, regulations, and laws, telephone skills and a presence of self-confidence. Meets with park visitors to answer questions regarding park facilities, recreational schedules, park history and environmental features, and surrounding area. Patrols park area by various motorized vehicles, watercraft, bicycle and on foot. Explains park rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and objectives to park visitors and special interest groups. Informs Park Manager or DCNR Ranger if visitor actions require additional law enforcement actions. Monitors security of park buildings and facilities. Assists proper staff with emergency situations including search and rescue, first aid/CPR, weather related events. Assists with traffic control and road closures. Performs incidental light maintenance duties as needed and directed to maintain safe and sanitary conditions. Inspects buildings and park structures for safety hazards. Takes action to correct immediate hazards. Reports them to the maintenance supervisor and/or manager. Inspects trails and boundaries to ensure markers and signs are in place and no hazards present. Assists Environmental Education Specialist with programming, scheduling and advertising of programs. Assists with set-up and presentation of programs as needed. May lead recreational activities under the direction of the Environmental Education Specialist and Park Manager. Assists with set-up and presentation of programs as needed. Assists with planning, coordination, and implementation of events and volunteer projects. Ensures park bulletin boards and brochure racks are kept updated, current, and in a clean and neat appearance. Attends applicable trainings to the position. Performs other duties as assigned. |

Law enforcement issues shall be passed on to Park Manager and/or DCNR Rangers. Employee performs incidental light maintenance for a safety or emergency situation. |
