Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is responsible for maintenance and repairs for Troop D property and buildings.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

50% Maintenance and repair work includes: (please edit as appropriate to Troop operations)

Paints the interior of the building as well as exterior surfaces throughout the grounds. Work includes determining proper paint for projects along with preparation of the surfaces to be painted, including sanding, chipping, and patching.

Performs remodeling by repairing, installing, and removing doors, shelving, floor tiles, roofing, walls, enclosures, etc. Repairs chairs, desks, and miscellaneous office furniture and equipment as required.

Performs various masonry work by installing and/or repairing concrete sidewalks, curbs, etc.

Performs repairs to plumbing equipment such as pumps, sinks, toilets, showers, pipes, etc. Installs fixtures, opens blocked drains, and repairs leaks.

Operates Troop HVAC system to ensure that the furnace, circulating pump, steam extractor, and filtering system are functioning properly. Performs routine and/or preventative maintenance on HVAC system/equipment, adjusts valves and controls, replace valves, motors, or other parts in need of repair. Ensures that the emergency generator, battery, charger, and control panel are checked and functioning properly.

Performs electrical installation and repair of wall and ceiling lighting fixtures, switches, ballasts, etc. Installs new electrical circuits and rewires rooms as needed.

25% Shovels snow, sweeps, and clears walkways of snow and ice. Applies salt on snow and icy areas as needed. Sweeps walkways/sidewalks. Keeps outdoor grounds free of litter and other debris. Plows driveways and parking areas of snow. Performs groundskeeping work to include lawn mowing, grass clipping around stationary objects, trimming shrubs and trees, weeding, leaf removal, and watering. Operates tools and machinery associated with snow removal and groundskeeping. Maintains lawn fixtures and flag poles.

5% Performs custodial work such as cleaning floors, restrooms, windows/mirrors, furniture, and walls and other surfaces. Empties trash and recyclable receptacles. Replaces light bulbs.

5% Oversees maintenance projects where an outside vendor is contracted to complete the project. This includes participating in the solicitation of bids, showing vendors the work site, explaining the project, etc.

5% Maintains storage and care of maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery by changing oil, replacing filters/spark plugs, cleaning, sharpening blades, etc.

5% Moves furniture to clean building or to make repairs, for relocations within the facility, and for loading for transport. Assists with the loading or unloading of Troop supplies and deliveries.

5% Performs other related work as required.

Determines most effective and efficient means to perform maintenance and repairs of Troop D Headquarters building and grounds. Consults with Supervisor with maintenance and repair assignments to ensure progress and completion.
