Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Assists the Digital Director in planning, developing, and directing social media and digital communications for the Department of Health, Office of Communications. This includes assisting in developing the agency’s social media strategy, digital communications plan, and website branding efforts. Work involves serving as the agency’s social media creator including social content management and analytical activities, keeping up with the latest trends and using social media tools aligned with the agency’s mission and goals. Work is performed independently but is supervised and reviewed by the department’s Digital Director, with oversight by the department’s Communications Director and the Governor’s Office Digital Director. This ensures effectiveness and alignment with the agency’s and the Commonwealth’s communications mission and objectives. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. • Writes social media content to promote public health practices. • Designs and/or produces digital products, including graphics and videos, for social media and web use, with direction from the Digital Director. • Assists in managing the agency’s social media content and adapting public health content to latest trends and platforms. • Regularly analyzes social media content and comments to adjust topics and tone as appropriate. • Uses Infodemiology to watch and study social media trends across all platforms and recommends incorporating public health messaging as preproperate. • Assists with monitoring, reviewing, and interpreting social media analytics. • Reviews, with Digital Director, social media campaigns, digital marketing campaigns, website applications, and content changes. • Performs related communications and social media work as required. • Oversees completion of social media special projects as directed by the Digital Director, and/or Communications Director, and Press Secretary. • Serves as backup website content manager for Digital Director. • Travels to agency events across the state, as necessary, to develop and create social media content and staff department executives. • Other related duties as required. |

Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. - Works closely with the department program staff and leaders, to choose appropriate topics and content for daily social media posts. - Selects photos and graphics to include in social media posts. - Determines social media content to submit for further approval. - Identifies emerging social media issues and brings them to the communications team for further discussion. - Identifies opportunities to promote the work of the department. - Prioritizes assignments to meet daily objectives. |
