Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Makes preventive plumbing inspections on a scheduled basis; repairing or replacing all defective parts as needed. Makes time and material estimates for specific jobs and sources materials. Work involves the exercise of independent judgement in determining materials and work methods to be used. Installs, Maintains, and repairs valves, faucets, traps, sinks, wash bowls, and other sanitary fixtures; and installs fixture supports and hangers. Installs new water/sewer lines. Repairs water/sewer lines, installs new manholes for sewer lines, installs new lines and controls in mechanical rooms by bending, cutting, reaming, threading, welding, sodering, and brazing of pipes and fittings. Performs repairs,inspections, and adjustments to facility mechanical systems and related equipment. Checks and cleans all sanitary and storm sewer catch basins on a scheduled basis and makes repairs as needed. Install, repair and maintain plumbing, heating and steam operated equipment and systems. You will be expected to work at the full journey level, which may include interpreting blueprints/instructions for small projects and ensuring these projects are completed according to specifications. Inspects and maintains all fire plugs on a scheduled basis for proper operation, making repairs as needed. Makes repairs and adjustments to trade related special vocational shop equipment Helps conduct fire demonstrations on a scheduled basis in order to orientate staff and clients in fire and evacuation safety. Maintains fire extinguisher yearly testing and monitoring, also does quarterly testing on facility sprinkler systems. On occasion and when assigned, works alongside and guides CTI students assigned to a externship in the HGAC Maintenance Division. Deliver and pick up shop materials and tools from assigned shop to areas where they are needed. Maintains cleanliness of worksite and shop area. Works with tradesmen and other shopmen in general, on related assignments, or as directed by a Maintenance Supervisor. Assist in set up and tear down of furnishings and equipment for indoor/outdoor functions. Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work under adverse enviromental conditions. Assists other facility personnel with snow removal using state vehicles and equipment. Leagally operates state vehicles. Performs other assigned duties/tasks as directed by a supervisor. |
