Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs the full range of journeyman level carpentry duties to include estimation and electronic recording of time and material requirements and supplies. Plans and lays-out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blueprints, oral instruction, and own knowledge of construction or needed repairs. Selects lumber, materials, and supplies. Measures and cuts material to the required lengths and dimensions. Performs alterations, repairs and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs (shingles, metal and rubber), stairways, partitions, wood, metal and garage doors, screens, window guards, scaffolding (erects and works from), concrete forms and wood fixtures. Completes a full range of framing, exterior and interior trim finishing. Builds concrete forms, scaffolds, storage pallets, storage bins, tables, workbenches, and related items; cuts glass, glazes sashes, installs caulking and lays vinyl composition, carpet and rubber floor tiles. Fabricates and installs frames and casings for windows, doors, transoms, and ventilators. Measures, cuts and builds shelves, counters, bulletin boards, cabinets, bookcases, credenzas, furniture (includes moving or relocating) and picture frames. Flagpole maintenance and repair. Removes and relocates signage. Assists mason shop with concrete pours as needed. Installs metal and wooden partitions, modular furniture, paneling, flooring, grid work and ceiling tile, walls, and doors in normal remodeling or renovation projects. Ensures that installed components are plumb and level and accurately aligned with other parts of the structure. Installs doors, floor and surface mounted closers, panic hardware and ADA buttons and window sashes, trims, mortises, drills and prepares items for attachment of hardware. Performs skilled maintenance to garage and walk doors, which would include repairing or replacing various styles of floor mounted, surface mounted and automatic door closures, hinges, panic hardware and ADA buttons and other related hardware. Performs skilled bench work, such as operating table, band and radial arm saws, jointers, wood lathes, shapers, planers, routers, and sanding and mortising machines and other related equipment. Uses trade related equipment i.e., forklift, skid loader, trailer, man lifts and dump truck. Responsible for the proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment; cleans, sharpens and repairs hand and bench tools. May function as a lead worker over helpers assisting in various phases of work by directing work as a team leader, providing assistance, and reviewing the work for adherence to standards. Shovels and removes snow and ice from entrances, walkways, steps, etc. Spreads rock salt, calcium, sand or other deicing agents, and operates spreaders and snow blowers. Drives to various locations throughout the Capitol and Annex Complex and outlying buildings in the Harrisburg Region. May assist with Scranton and Reading locations when instructed to aid. Performs other related work as required. |
