Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position is responsible and accountable for supervision of a unit of Clerical Assistant 2s in the County Assistance Office under the supervision of an Administrative Officer 1.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Plans and assigns work by distributing assignments to clerical staff.
Explains methods and procedures to clerical staff and demonstrates the operation of office and mailing equipment.
Explains policies and procedures to clerical staff and interprets and conveys the local implementation of DHS policy.
Reviews documents processed by clerical staff for completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
Provides guidance and leadership regarding the processes, procedures and techniques of assisting customers.
Conducts individual conferences and regular unit meetings on a regular basis.
Completes Mid-Point Progress Reviews and Annual Employee Performance Reviews (EPRs).
Monitors time and attendance records and approves or disapproves leave based on operational needs, leave balances, etc.
Demonstrates the operations of office equipment, provides training for new processes and reviews the operation of the County Disbursement Fund.
Prepares various reports, troubleshoots problems with the Electronic Benefits Transfer System, maintains and monitors telecommunications, assists in moving and troubleshooting computer equipment.
Interviews and recommends applicants for vacant clerical positions.
Participates in the performance of their subordinates’ work consistent with operational or organizational requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Provides technical guidance and direction to clerical staff regarding DHS policies and determines workload assignments without supervisory review. Develops and implements new processes with regard to impact on other departments.
