Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. The Aide Trainee is responsible and accountable for learning the duties of RSA and assisting the lead worker and supervisory residential staff with the development, delivery and monitoring of treatment, training and related services provided at Selinsgrove Center. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), the employee in this position delivers treatment and training services in the areas of self-care, socialization, and health maintenance as specified in each individual’s Individual Support Plan (ISP) with overall coordination and direction coming from the QDDP/RSS. In addition to the above related tasks in accordance with verbal and written directions or per established procedures under the guidance/supervision of the Residential Services Aide Supervisor/Residential Services Worker. Day to day work is completed with guidance and instruction from the Residential Services Worker (RSW), Residential Services Aide Supervisor (RSAS) and/or other program staff on the IDT. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1. Assists with the development of each individual's ISP by completing designated portions of the Self-Care Assessment and/or Training Plan/Support Action information in order to maximize availability of complete and accurate information about each individual's strengths, likes and needs. 2. Assists in the implementation of each individual's ISP by conducting specified Training Plans/Support Actions in order to maximize the delivery of Active Treatment. 3. Assists with monitoring and revision of each individual's ISP by recording/reporting required information regarding Training Plans/Support Actions in order to maximize effectiveness of services toward meeting the individual's most pressing needs. 4. Participates as a member of the IDT by interacting with other team members, communicating information on skills, strengths and discussing need areas in order to maximize delivery of Active Treatment through the IDT process. 5. Records information in assigned individuals' unit records in order to document and communicate information to other members of the team. 6. Assists in conducting a program of environmental enhancement by participating in the selection of furniture and equipment and by assisting with the purchase, placement, monitoring, and provision of appropriate personal items in order to maximize therapeutic environment. 7. Serves as a role model employee by complying with policy and procedure, advocating for the developmentally disabled, assuring individual privacy, personal dignity and Rights are continually maintained. 8. Provides opportunities of choice for individuals served. This is done in a manner that minimizes risk but provides an opportunity for growth in the individual’s daily activities. 9. Completes related duties and assignments to interacting regularly with community and facility staff in order to maintain effective community operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Carries out daily routine of ISP. 2. Assists, guides, and encourages individuals. 3. Provides routine physical care to individuals. 4. Positions / lifts non-ambulatory individuals. 5. Observes and reports individual’s behavior. 6. Escorts individuals to various activities. 7. May perform CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, and other emergency procedures. 8. Participates in housekeeping functions. 9. Understands / interprets oral / written instructions. 10. Participates in the Risk Management process. |

Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature. Any change in physical status of the Individual is to be reported to the community RN. Any temporary changes in the delivery of the ISP on a day-to-day basis must be authorized by the unit RSAS, such as program cancellations. Any permanent changes to the ISP must be approved via an IDT meeting. |
