Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Operates specialized equipment such as excavator, menzi-muck, bobcat, Gradall, graders, backhoes, bulldozers, high-lifts or front end loaders with a bucket capacity of three cubic yards or more which are used in general construction, maintenance or grounds work, including snow removal and cindering operations. Operates vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more, such as dump trucks and tractor trailers which are used in general construction, maintenance or grounds work, including snow removal and cindering operations. Performs manual work on assigned projects when not operating equipment. Performs general maintenance to all park facilities. Performs intermediate level repairs and preventive maintenance work on equipment and cleans and services equipment. Completes safety checks and inspections of equipment prior to operation and maintains records of operated equipment including those of commercial vehicles exceeding 32,000 pounds gross vehicle weight, as appropriate. Operates mowing equipment. Assists in carpentry, masonry, and mechanical projects. Clean out and maintain water level in canal. Performs canal repairs. Performs tree and brush removal along the canal. May be called out in cases of emergency. Works with contractors in repairing leaks in the canal. Demonstrates the operation of assigned equipment to other employees. Performs other related work as required. |
