Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

Under the direct supervision of the Security Officer 2, general supervision of the Center Director or designee, has responsibility for safety and welfare of Center students, security of the buildings and grounds, and transportation of clients or related program concerns.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Patrols by foot and motorized vehicle, facility, grounds and accompanying buildings, enforcing facility rules and regulations and Commonwealth laws.

A. Observes students, staff, general public, property, and facilities, reporting suspicious activities, safety violations or illegal activities to Security Officer 2 or management staff on call. Investigates unusual incidents, reporting results of investigation to the Security Officer 2.

B. Makes fire and security inspections, reporting to Security Officer 2 safety violations, unsecured areas, maintenance or lighting needs.

C. Responds to and assists at all fire or accident calls, assisting the responding fire and ambulance vehicles, as needed.

D. Responsible for securing the building on a scheduled basis, and the securing and opening of doors and areas at specified times.

E. Serve as receptionist at the lobby desk, fulfilling the duties normally performed by the receptionist. This includes maintaining discipline in the lobby and enforcing Center rules and

Decision Making:

Identify the problems or issues that can be resolved at the level of this position, versus those that must be referred to the supervisor. Example: In response to a customer inquiry, this work involves researching the status of an activity and preparing a formal response for the supervisor’s signature.

Receives instructions orally and by written work procedures. Work is reviewed through inspections and through analysis of reports. At times, serves with independent responsibility for making decisions, especially during the evening and on weekends or holidays. The supervision is performed by the Security Officer 2, Director, and management staff in charge of Center operations during off hours in accordance with the Center’s Operations Manual and Pennsylvania Crimes Codes/Vehicle Codes.

Enters P.E.T.S hours.
