Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

RESPONSIBLE FOR EVALUATING AND PROCESSING APPLICATIONS FOR THE BUSINESS LICENSING DIVISION OF THE BUREAU OF PROFESSIONAL AND OCCUPATIONAL AFFAIRS, COSMETOLOGY AND BARBER BOARDS. USES INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT IN DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY FOR EACH LICENSE TYPE. MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH THE LAW AND REGULATIONS FOR EACH LICENSING BOARD. WORK INVOLVES AN UNDERSTANDING OF MULTIPLE ASPECTS AND APPLICATION OF VARIED PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES. THE ISSUANCE OF A LICENSE TO AN UNQUALIFIED APPLICANT COULD RESULT IN RISK TO THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PUBLIC.
























Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

1. INDEPENDENTLY EVALUATES AND PROCESSES APPLICATIONS FOR INITIAL LICENSURE OF PROFESSIONALS AND BUSINESS LOCATIONS.

2. RESEARCH COMPLEX APPLICATION MATTERS AND PREPARE RESPONSES ACCORDINGLY. THIS MAY INVOLVE INPUT FROM THE BOARD ADMINISTRATOR.

3. DEVELOPS, PREPARES AND DISTRIBUTES DETAILED DISCREPANCY EMAILS TO APPLICANTS THAT DO NOT MEET THE LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS AS OUTLINED IN LAWS, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES OF THE STATE BOARD OF COSMETOLOGY AND THE STATE BOARD OF BARBER EXAMINERS.

4. RESPONDS TO INQUIRIES CONCERNING APPLICATION STATUS VIA PHONE AND EMAIL, AND REQUESTS FOR FORMS.

5. ENSURES ALL DOCUMENTS AND CORRESPONDENCE ARE UPLOADED TO THE RELEVANT APPLICATION.

6. POSSESS KNOWLEDGE OF STANDARD OFFICE PROCEDURES, PRACTICES, CONDUCT, AND ACTIONS NECESSARY IN MAINTAINING HARMONIOUS WORKING RELATIONSHIPS.

7. PERFORM OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS REQUIRED BY THE SUPERVISOR.

INDEPENDENTLY VALIDATES LICENSURE APPLICATIONS FOR COMPLETENESS AND DETERMINES IF LICENSURE SHOULD BE GRANTED.

EMPLOYEE IS AWARE OF ONGOING DAILY WORKLOAD REQUIREMENTS AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES AND SETS PRIORITIES ACCORDINGLY. ANY UNUSUAL PROBLEMS WHICH MAY OCCUR ARE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SUPERVISOR AND SOLUTIONS ARE AGREED TO. EMPLOYEE EXERCISES GOOD JUDGEMENT AND INITIATIVE WITHIN ESTABLISHED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
