Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The Residential Services Aide (RSA) is responsible and accountable for providing required supports and services for individual living within residential units, program areas, and workshops with development, delivery and monitoring of treatment, training and related services provided in Residential units. Day to day work is completed with guidance and supervision from the Residential Services Aide Supervisor and/or other program staff on the IDT. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), the RSA in this position delivers treatment and training services in the areas of self-care, socialization, and health maintenance as specified in each individual’s Individual Support Plan (ISP) with overall coordination and instruction coming from the RSW and RSS.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

1. Assists with the development of each individual's ISP by completing designated portions of the Living Area Assessment and/or training plan information in order to maximize availability of complete and accurate information about each individual's strengths, likes and needs.
2. Assists in the implementation of each individual's ISP by conducting specified training plans in order to maximize the delivery of Active Treatment as outlined in Personal Support Plans (PSP) and Support Actions (SA).
3. Assists with monitoring and revision of each individual's ISP by recording/reporting required information regarding training plans/ PSP and SA in order to maximize effectiveness of services toward meeting the individual's most pressing needs.
4. Participates as a member of the IDT by interacting with other team members, communicating information on skills, strengths and discussing need areas in order to maximize delivery of Active Treatment through the IDT process.
5. Records, documents and communicates/shares information to other members of the team regarding supports, services, ADL’s and incidents as identified in Ebensburg Center policy/procedures.
6. Assists in enhancing living area environment by participating in the selection of furniture and equipment and by assisting with the purchase, placement, monitoring, and provision of appropriate personal items in order to maximize therapeutic environment.
7. Serves as a role model employee by complying with policy and procedure, advocating for the individuals in their care, assuring individual privacy, personal dignity and Rights are continually maintained.
8. Provides opportunities of choice for individuals served. This is done in a manner that minimizes risk but provides an opportunity for growth in the individual’s daily activities.
9. Completes related duties and assignments to interacting regularly with unit and facility staff in order to maintain effective unit operations.
10. This employee will adhere to Commonwealth policy and Ebensburg Center procedure regarding time/attendance.
11. This position is responsible for reporting all incidents and occurrences immediately to appropriate supervisor/management staff.
12. Work assigned per Ebensburg Center policy and completed according to the Direct Care Procedure Manual.

Any change in physical status of the Individual is to be reported to the unit medical/nursing staff..
In forms RSAS of circumstance that may need temporary change to the day to day basis of the ISP so authorization may be obtained from appropriate supervisor/management staff.
As a member of ID Team participates in meetings that could lead to permanent changes to ISP.

Essential Functions
: Provide a list of essential functions for this position. Example: Transports boxes weighing up to 60 pounds.
 
 1. Carries out daily routine of ISP.
 2. Assists, guides, and encourages individuals using appropriate technique per EC policy/procedure.
 3. Provides ADL’s to individuals following established procedures
 4. Uses appropriate SAFE TRANSFER technique to position/lift care dependent individuals.
 5. Observes, documents and reports individual’s behavior as identified in EC policy/procedure.
 6. Escorts individuals to various activities on and off campus.
 7. MUST perform CPR, Abdominal thrusts, and other emergency procedures.
 8. Participates in housekeeping functions as policy/procedure.
 9. Understands / interprets oral / written instructions.
 10. Be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., if work requires lifting excess of 50 lbs. seek help from co-worker or Ergo lift.
