Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position plans, directs, and supervises staff and inmate workers assigned to commissary operations within SCI Albion's Correctional Industries (CI) Distribution Warehouse.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

30% Supervises subordinate staff and inmate workers in the performance of routine and non-routine factory work. Provides orientation and training for subordinate staff and inmate workers assigned to the plant, which includes reviewing shop regulations, job requirements, safety tips, etc. Prepares inmate workers progress reports, counsels them on job related performance issues, and makes recommendations to promote and/or demote them based on their overall work performance.

25% Oversees all phases of product design and development and determines the most practical and economical use of materials, labor, and machines from inception through completion. Prepares product samples and specifications for consideration and provides information such as time studies and associated charges for use in projecting budget expenditures. Observes and inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure adherence to established industry standards, as well as CI quality control efforts. Submits written reports on tool inventories, safety, production, sales, lost time, and monthly activities to designated staff.

25% Reviews, plans, coordinates, and schedules the production and delivery of requested products. Monitors and maintains inventory levels and production schedules to meet projected needs. Ensures that there is an ample supply of finished goods available to satisfy standing orders. Notifies the customer and CI order section of the anticipated shipping date and expected fulfillment date.

15% Reviews and analyzes previous orders, product demand, and projected needs to justify requests for raw materials, supplies, and equipment. Supervises the receipt, storage, and allocation of materials and supplies. Supervises the installation, operation, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure satisfactory, safe, and efficient operation. Supervises the internal bookkeeping system, which includes inventory and production records, as well as, procurement records and customer order information. Ensures records are kept in accordance with applicable retention schedules and accreditation standards.

5% Performs other related duties as required.

8. Work mandatory overtime in compliance with overtime provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, with little or no advance notice, whether on or off duty at the time of notification
9. Use and maintain various equipment and tools used in the products and/or services manufacturing process
10. Properly wear all portions of assigned uniform
11. Establish and maintain effective working relationships
12. Visually observe inmates’ activities
13. Be mobile over all types of physical surfaces and levels
14. Hear and identify sounds (voices, whistle, buzzer, lock release, scuffling, sudden quiet)
15. Attend and participate in all mandatory training and/or testing
16. Travel as required
