Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Responsible for administrative direction of psychological services at Danville State Hospital. The major responsibility is to direct, plan, and organize the total psychology program of the hospital. Supervision, general and direct, is exercised over psychological services staff. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. This position is directly supervised by the Director of Social and Rehabilitative Services. Maintains current knowledge of CMS / DOH regulations and ensures compliance of Psychological Services. Plans, organizes, and directs work within the Psychology Department by developing periodic reviews, goals, prioritizing projects, and assigning, reviewing, and evaluating subordinate work efforts in order to ensure availability of quality psychological services to consumers. Approves / denies requests for leave from work ensuring adequate staffing to meet consumer psychological service needs. Annually completes Employee Performance Reviews (EPR) and Mid-Point Progress Reviews. Monitors staff performance and conducts interim EPRs and work plans as needed. Serves as an advisor and provides oversight of all Behavioral Interventions, Protocols, and / or Plans Assists with Higher Level Reviews when needed. Attends the SRS Department Leadership meeting. Assigns and conducts Psychological Testing Ensures that Psychological Services are offered in a sufficient amount and quality manner that supports / addresses consumer specific needs. Conducts monthly Psychology Department meetings. Ensures Psychology staff complete all required trainings. Ensures that Psychology Staff provide 3 hours of training to all new employees in conjunction with the new employee orientation process. Organizes / conducts trainings as needed. Provides oversight of all internships / educational opportunities conducted within the Psychology Department. Upon request, creates consumer timelines to assist in identifying the most effective treatment for consumers. Assigns coverage for individualized or group therapies when Psychology Staff are off duty and conducts these therapies when needed. Conduct staff debriefing as needed. Reviews / approves Psychology Staff training requests. Develops and implements policies and procedures by interpreting and applying professional standards in order to provide quality services. Develops and implements a departmental Quality Improvement Program. Provides oversight of Drug and Alcohol Services, DBT, Music Therapy and Art Therapy Ensures a mentorship is provided for those pursuing Licensed Professional Counselor education. Coordinates Psychological services with other disciplines, assigning Psychology staff as part of the unit interdisciplinary treatment team. Conducts investigations as assigned |
