Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Schedule, assign, and supervise the work of employees performing custodial and laundry duties such as mopping, dusting, scrubbing, polishing, aseptic cleaning, trash removal, and collecting and distributing laundry. Prepare work schedules and arrange schedule changes. Develop and post biweekly work schedules of staff assignments at least 2 weeks prior to schedule date. Maintain time records for custodial employees. Ensure federal and state requirements for custodial services are followed. Instruct staff on the proper use of cleaning equipment, detergents, disinfectants, floor finishes, chemicals, etc. hazardous materials and infectious waste. Ensure staff follows safety precautions while performing cleaning, sanitation, and laundry duties. Make frequent inspections of work performed by staff and initiate corrections and adjustments to operating methods and procedures. Plan and conduct meetings, in-service training, and on-the-job training as required to encourage staff development and positive working relationships among employees. Report and request needed repairs to doors, windows, floors, walls, and equipment within the facility. Maintain records and requisition supplies and equipment needed for custodial services. Ensure adequate supplies of linen are available. Ensure the distribution and collection of laundry. Participate in multi-disciplinary staff and committee meetings. Meet with vendors to discuss and evaluate new cleaning products and machinery. Recommend cleaning supply and equipment purchases. Perform supervisory duties such as interviewing and selecting candidates, completing employee performance reviews, approving/disapproving leave, and initiating discipline. Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to supervisor. Perform other related duties as required. |
