Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. Provides skilled work for the operation and maintenance of Linn Run State Park Complex, including making repairs and performing maintenance on vehicles, machinery, buildings, facilities and equipment. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks, using skills in the following trades: Mechanical – perform mechanical work on all of the parks vehicles, trucks, tractors, mowers and small powered equipment. This includes routine work such as changing filters, belts, tires and oil; lube jobs, replacing mufflers and tail pipes, etc. Major work includes brake jobs, tune-ups, adjusting valves, carburetors, etc. Electrical work – repairing and installing outlets, switches, lights, electric heaters and fans, etc. Installation of electric service on cabins and park buildings. Plumbing – install and maintain plumbing fixtures, install and repair lavatories, water closets, water fountains, install and repair water lines, water heating equipment, etc. Carpentry – make repairs to doors, windows, etc., replace cabin logs, flooring, operate power carpentry tools, and assist with major repairs. Make repairs to roofs; install flashing, and lay shingles. Welding – weld and braze materials by use of arc and acetylene welders. Performs repairs on bridge structures, such as building forms, finishing concrete, welding steel components and operating construction equipment as needed. Paints interior and exterior of buildings, performs masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walks and walls. Leads a small group of semi-skilled laborers in the performance of any of these tasks. Operate the park sedans, small trucks, tractors, backhoes, mowing tractors and other vehicles. Maintain daily records of all the parks motorized equipment and submit requests for parts and supplies needed to maintain the equipment. Assists with the cleaning of park cabins, restrooms, and washhouses when the custodial staff is not available or is reduced. Assists with the cutting and splitting of firewood for the cabins and/or use at maintenance. Performs related duties and work of lesser classifications as required. |
