Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. This position is part of the Park Ranger and visitor service staff of Memorial Lake Complex. This is a non-law enforcement position. A Park Resource Ranger performs a variety of visitor services and park operations assignments in the form of administrative, maintenance and technical public safety duties designed to promote the efficient, safe and proper utilization of outdoor recreational facilities at Memorial Lake State Park Complex. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: • Meets with park visitors and special interest groups to answer questions and provide information regarding park facilities, recreational schedules, park history, environmental features, rules, regulations, policies, and directives. Assisting with a variety of front office and visitor services duties that support day-to-day administrative operations and ensures a welcoming and organized environment that enhances the overall visitor experience. Facilitates the Bear Hole Trail Drive Thru program at Swatara State Park in coordination with park volunteers and staff. • Prepares and delivers presentations to school groups, civic groups, sportsman’s associations, and other special interest groups on park history and activities. • Assists Park Manager and DCNR Rangers in containing and controlling emergency situations. • Notifies Park Manager or DCNR Rangers of issues requiring the involvement of law enforcement. • Administers first-aid, artificial respiration, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to injured park visitors. • Assists with search and rescue operations to locate lost and missing visitors on state park land. • Patrols state park grounds, boundaries, and facilities, including beaches, pools, and high-use day and overnight areas, to verify safe operation and visitor compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. • Inspects buildings and park structures for safety hazards, takes action to mitigate or correct hazards, and reports issues to a supervisor or Park Manager. • Directs motorists along roads, trails, and in parking areas. • Issues boating and other park service permits. • Uses the reservation system and other customer service-related software to make reservations, issue permits, and collect fees. • Prepares courtesy warnings, letters, memorandums, and correspondence; and prepares reports regarding daily park activities, visitor safety, incidents, maintenance, attendance and the status and condition of facilities, and equipment. • Assists with park maintenance work including litter pickup, sign painting, and trail marking. • Operates motor vehicles, utility terrain vehicles, bicycles, and motorboats. Assist with special programs/projects as directed by Park Manger. • Performs related work as required. |
