Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The purpose of this position is to serve as a Maintenance Repairman 2 performing maintenance, forest fire protection, and other duties related to Clear Creek Forest District operations and infrastructure.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

1. Forest District Operations and Infrastructure:

A. Plans, prepares, and conducts maintenance operations at the Resource Management Center and grounds to include buildings, mechanical systems, landscaping, driveways, walkways, lighting systems, shops, machinery, trails, signage, etc.

B. Properly maintains and safely/effectively operates specialized maintenance equipment, tools, vehicles, tractors, Off-Highway Vehicles, accessories, etc.

C. Constructs, maintains, and makes carpentry/electrical/plumbing/masonry repairs to infrastructure including buildings, HVAC systems, structures, signs, boundary lines, recreation trails, etc.

D. Operates assigned equipment and tools to construct, maintain, and repair State Forest roads including clearing debris from roadways, installing culverts, cleaning ditches, building/repairing stone headwalls/tailwalls, brush-hogging roadsides, operating road rake, etc.

E. Assists with other Forest District operations to include snow removal, facility security/protection, delivery of supplies/equipment, sign shop projects, etc.

F. Conducts general vehicle and equipment maintenance to include oil changes, tire rotations, hydraulic line repairs, troubleshooting, parts/accessories installations, etc.

2. State Forest Management:

A. As directed, constructs and maintains wildlife openings to include planting, seeding, pruning, applying herbicide, mowing, brush cutting, etc.

B. As directed, installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs woven-wire deer fence exclosures.

3. Forest Fire Protection Program:

A. Assists with the care and maintenance of specialized forest firefighting equipment and vehicles stationed at the Resource Management Center.

B. As directed and trained, assists with forest fire prevention activities, pre-suppression readiness, suppression operations, and After Action Reviews.

C. As directed and trained, assists with prescribed fire operations.

D. Obtains and maintains Pennsylvania Forest Fire Warden credentials.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Decision Making:

Work is assigned daily by the Assistant District Manager for Operations. Decision making is required for effectively planning, implementing, and managing assigned projects and assigned duties. Decisions that deviate from established policies, directives, training, standard operating procedures, and/or supervisor’s instruction are referred to the Assistant District Manager for Operations, or another manager when necessary.

Essential Functions
: Provide a list of essential functions for this position. Example: Transports boxes weighing up to 60 pounds.
 
 1. Perform general mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and masonry maintenance and repairs to facilities.
 2. Perform general vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs.
 3. Plan and organize tools/equipment/supplies to successfully complete projects.
 4. Properly maintain and safely operate hand tools, power tools, motor vehicles and maintenance equipment.
 5. Organize and lead small crews on projects.
 6. Frequently traverse steep, rough, uneven terrain and perform arduous outdoor activities in all weather conditions, sometimes carrying up to 45 poun
 7. Assist with all aspects of forest fire prevention, pre-suppression, suppression, post-suppression, and prescribed fire activities.
 8. Learn, apply, and communicate Commonwealth and Bureau of Forestry rules, policies, and procedures, and observe safety and health requirements.
 9. Establish and maintain working relationships.
 10. Use and understand clear, oral and written communications.
