Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is semi-skilled manual work in the construction and maintenance of a state park. An employee in this class may perform semi-skilled work alone or as a team or assist other maintenance class workers with skilled labore. Work involves use of a large variety of construction and maintenance equipment and tools in many different tasks which frequently require the application of skills acquired on the job. Employees receive oral and/or written instructions, work is checked by inspection during and upon completion. This position performs duties that are routinely executed seven days a week and will be routinely scheduled to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed for park operations and to meet seasonal needs. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Performs a wide variety of manual work in the maintenance of grounds and facilities of a state park. Knowledgeable in the use of tools for groundskeeping and maintenance including carpentry, plumbing and masonry trades. Performs a wide variety of tasks including mowing grass and weeds, raking leaves, cutting wood, clearing brush and downed trees using tractors, power and non-power tools. Assists with routine and preventative maintenance on tools and equipment. Operates and maintains a variety of vehicles and equipment including dump truck, UTV’s, small tractors for mowing, and snow removal equipment. Performs custodial duties including cleaning restrooms and other park buildings, picking up and removing trash, mopping and scrubbing floors. Assists with and makes repairs to existing buildings and facilities, the construction of new facilities using the tools of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and roofing trades. Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties including but not limited to painting interior and exterior of buildings, assisting with installing roofs, building construction, and renovation. Will be required to attend various training sessions at various statewide locations. May be required to travel on park business outside park boundaries for various lengths of time. Performs other job-related tasks and duties as required by park maintenance supervisor and/or park manager. |
