Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

This position entails semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance of State Park operations and outdoor recreation within Nockamixon State Park.

The semi-skilled laborer, under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker. Work involves the use of lawn care equipment and miscellaneous maintenance and gas powered hand tools in many different tasks. These tasks frequently require the application of skills acquired on the job and vary on a daily basis. A major part of the job consists of custodial-type work such as cleaning latrines, cabins, shower houses, and other buildings; litter pick-up, emptying hundreds of trash cans, cleaning grills, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work is assigned in the form of oral or written instructions and is reviewed upon completion for adherence to standards, completeness, and quality by a technical, professional, or administrative supervisor.

Description of Duties:

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Provides assistance to park patrons and explains park rules and regulations.
Practices safety in all aspects of the job and on a daily basis.
Assists in implementing an active safety program by reviewing safety procedures on a regular and daily basis.
Assists with ongoing inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools

Operates the following equipment:
1-ton dump truck and other vehicles
Lawn mowers including push mowers, zero turn mowers, and riding tractors
Weed eaters
Leaf blowers
Construction pump
Power hand tools, chainsaws, and portable generators

Assists other maintenance personnel with the following tasks including, but not limited to:

Assemble picnic tables
Repair footbridges
Maintain and repair roofs
Build window frames, display cases, and various other wooded pieces
Install paneling, molding, and trim inside buildings
Related carpentry work
Related masonry work
Painting and staining buildings
Trail work
Cleanup hazardous trees
Planting trees


Assists with all work related to park maintenance including: litter pick-up, cleaning of all facilities, and opening/closing of facilities.


Assists in other work and tasks performed:

1. Trails – removes brush and fallen trees; assists in the maintenance and construction of footbridges
2. Roads- clean drains, ditches and culverts; repair potholes
3. Park Signs- construct, paint, install, maintain, and places signs as directed.

Performs and records routine equipment maintenance

Performs additional and related work as required.

Attends mandatory and optional job skill training courses.

Attends mandatory safety and staff meetings.
