Position Purpose:
Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. 

The employee in this position is assigned to the Maintenance Department at Selinsgrove Center and is responsible for performing maintenance on electrical equipment, making electrical repairs/installations, repairing laundry equipment, repairing and installation of electrical panels and associated equipment and repairing kitchen equipment in 46 buildings and covering an area of approximately 254 acres.

Description of Duties:
Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor.

Repairs, lays out and installs all primary and secondary wiring and assists the Medium Voltage electrician on distribution and switchgear equipment.Installs and maintains switches, panels, lights, electrical controls and associated equipment. This is accomplished by written work orders and preventive maintenance checklists. This work is done to provide continuous electrical service throughout the Center. Performance is satisfactory when all emergencies are handled within 24 hours 100% of the time, when assigned work is completed within time frame set by the Electrical Foreman and when electrical service is supplied to appropriate areas 99% of the time.

Repairs and installs domestic and commercial kitchen stoves, toasters, mixers, washers, dryers, etc. from written work/oral work orders to provide food service and laundry services for the individuals. Performance is satisfactory when equipment is restored to normal operation 95% of the time and when work is completed within set time frames.

Makes minor repairs to electronic equipment and adaptations of electronic equipment for the individuals programming needs. This is accomplished through oral/written work orders to assist in providing an educational and entertaining environment for the individuals. Performance is satisfactory when assigned work is completed within time frame set by the Foreman.

Maintains emergency generators and emergency lighting systems, elevators and assist Medium Voltage Electrician on electrical switchgear. This is accomplished through written/oral work orders and preventive maintenance work orders to provide safety to the individuals and employees. Performance is satisfactory when emergency generators are in operation 99% of the time and elevators pass all safety standards.

Repairs and overhauls laundry equipment, washers and dryers, etc. This is accomplished by oral/written work orders to provide the individuals with clean and sanitary clothing and bed linens. Performance is satisfactory when all emergencies are handled within 24 hours and all laundry equipment is operational according to manufacturer’s specifications 90% of the time and when daily work orders are completed in a time frame set by the Foreman.

Installs wiremold and conduit for phone/electrical installations from written/oral work orders to provide telephone and electrical service throughout the Center. Performance is satisfactory when all work meets building codes and standards and when completed work is approved by on-site inspections by the Foreman.

Performs other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs heavy manual work such as moving equipment, materials and tools to and from assigned work areas to build, assemble, repair or maintain building structures, fixtures or equipment utilized therein.
2. Accomplishing work assignments requires working on equipment or building structures at various locations across the facility and entails gaining access to work that may involve climbing or working in confined areas.
3. Operation of maintenance equipment is required in order to accomplish tasks, i.e., driving trucks, autos or vans, operating power equipment and using hand tools.
4. Recognizes occupational hazards and follows safety precautions. Identifies defects in equipment, building fixtures, etc., and makes appropriate repairs.
5. Works from sketches, diagrams and blueprints. Interprets operational manuals and instruction sheets and follows directions.
6. Works extra hours as necessary to provide continuum of services or in case of emergencies.
7. Communicates effectively with co-workers in a manner appropriate to accomplish work assignments.
