Position Purpose:

The employee in this position functions as lead worker over a group of lower-level custodial workers, responsible for cleaning the facility.

Perform duties as a lead worker over an assigned group of custodial employees. Prioritize, distribute, and interpret work assignments, provide assistance conduct on-the-job training, and review work. Provide input to the supervisor regarding employee performance, including feedback regarding the annual performance evaluation process. Work additionally involves overseeing activities, providing status reports to the supervisor, performing quality control functions.

Distribute supplies and ensure supplies are stored after use.

Perform deep cleaning procedures of resident rooms, common areas, offices, nurse stations, security desks, employee testing rooms, dialysis rooms, kitchen areas, staff breakrooms, transportation vehicles, visitation booths, and public areas. Frequently performs deep cleaning for situations including residents going to and returning from the hospital, and residents being transitioned to/from precautionary units, etc.

General cleaning duties such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc. of: walls, baseboards, floors, handrails, elevators, mirrors, interior windows, window sills, ash trays, air vents, Venetian blinds, curtains, light fixtures, file cabinets, wardrobes, night stands, water fountains, bathroom fixtures, doors, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, tray chairs, etc.

Move furniture, equipment, and other items for cleaning, rearranging rooms, and moving residents.

Clean, sanitize, rearrange, and organize resident rooms prior to occupation.

Clean lavatories and replace lavatory supplies including toilet paper, paper towels and soap. Dispose of waste paper.

Dust, wash and scrub floors using dust mops or large wheeled buckets and mops. Sweep rugs and floors using heavy-duty vacuum cleaners and brooms on floors in hallways, entranceways, etc. Operate buffer and heavy-duty rug extractor. Maintain equipment and report any malfunctions.

Collect, bag, and dispose of trash to prevent fire and health hazards. Properly handle infectious waste and laundry. Sanitize rooms when occupants leave.

Assist with shoveling snow and may operate snow blowers and other related snow removal equipment.

Sweep and clean sidewalks and stairs using shovels or brooms, etc.

Use and mix chemicals from label instructions.

Use S.D.S instructions to insure proper procedures in case of spills.

Attend all assigned QAPI training. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts. Share ideas for improvement in the organization. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally, including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.

Performs work in accordance with the DMVA general safety rules and safety rules for this position. Immediately reports all workplace injuries or incidents to the supervisor; and/or immediately corrects any safety hazards in the work area or reports same to the supervisor.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Use personal protective equipment when required such as gloves, masks, face shield, etc

Essential Functions

 1. Perform repetitive motions; reach, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, climb stairs and stand on hard surfaces
