The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Forest Resource Technician and conduct technical forestry work involved in the management, protection, and conservation of forest resources within the Pinchot Forest District. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Primary duties will include supporting resource management foresters and applicable program areas. Assist with timber sales, including stand analysis, SILVA plots, marking timber sale boundaries, and prescription marking. Assist with landscape and compartment examinations. Assist with implementing annual regeneration and wildlife management practices, and native meadow establishment, including follow up maintenance. Assist Forest Health coordinator with treating trees for Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, Emerald Ash Borer, controlling invasive plant species, and forest health surveys, and recording tracking data. Assist Service Foresters with Rural and Community Forestry Programs as directed. Assist with recreational opportunity development and maintenance. Assist with obtaining land records from state and county offices, utilizing data, and applying data in the field to establish and mark state forest boundary lines. Assist with implementing annual resource management activities based on the District Activity Plan and State Forest Resource Management Plan. Collect specimens of varies types including but not limited to, forest health pests, invasive plant cuttings, bacteria and virus effected materials. Collect various types of data with mobile device applications, data recorders, GPS units, and input data into GIS software or applicable databases. Maintain Certified Public Pesticide Applicator License, Category 5. Plan and conduct wildfire control, suppression and prevention activities; assist with prescribed fire activities; maintain standards and positions as described in the standards and grandfathering established by the Prescribed Fire Council and according to Bureau of Forestry Policies and Procedures; and fire dispatch duties as directed.
