Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This position is assigned to the Transportation Department at Torrance State Hospital for the operating of fleet of vans, trucks and other assorted equipment, providing direct support to all Hospital Departments and some outside agencies. Operators must maintain proper license for equipment operated. Scheduled shift of this position is 0700 AM- 1500 PM Food Truck operations during seven day shift with two days off and then 700AM-1500PM Patient trip operations during three day shift with two off |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Operate minivans, cars, Wheelchair vans, Light duty trucks and any other vehicles required to transport Patients and or Staff on and off the grounds. Operate single chassis trucks of no more than 26,000 Lbs. GVW. Transport items such as food, medicine, equipment, laundry and any items required for direct report of the Hospital. Perform all required safety checks on assigned equipment, operate snow plows and salt spreaders of no more than 26,000 Lbs. GVW. Operate Front end loaders, forklift truck, skid loaders and various tractors with bucket capacity of no more than 3 Cubic yards. Operate Grounds keeping equipment, mowers, tractors rollers of no more than 10 Tons. Perform manual labor using hand tools for grounds care and unloading of trucks. Perform minor repairs and may be asked to assist Mechanic on major repairs. Keep vehicles and garage area clean of debris and hazards. Clean and services assigned equipment. Required to fill out all departmental forms, records and mileage sheets related to daily operations. Demonstrate proper operation of equipment to other employees. Must possess proper class of valid Pa. Drivers License. Meet all State, Federal and Department requirements to legally operate equipment on State highways. Complete other related duties and may be required to work overtime and or other shifts. Attend training as scheduled by Supervisor. Training may be provided by the Hospital or outside sources. Training may be job, safety or health related. MANDT training if required. All duties are performed in a neat, efficient, safe and professional manner in accordance with the Hospital Rules/Regulations and Policy/Procedures to maintain required standards. Duties may vary in accordance with needs and related duties may be assigned. Performance is considered satisfactory when the above standards have been met. |
