Position Purpose: Describe the primary purpose of this position and how it contributes to the organization’s objectives. Example: Provides clerical and office support within the Division to ensure its operations are conducted efficiently and effectively. This is an advanced library clerical position in the Access Services section of the State Library involving the application of complex and technical library procedures. The position supports Access Services by managing circulation functions using an Integrated Library System (ILS), assisting patrons at service points, maintaining the stacks, and collaborating with colleagues to keep procedures and workflows current. It also contributes to library outreach and operations by supporting interlibrary loan, coordinating with community partners, preparing program logistics, and assisting with departmental projects as needed. |

Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. 1.Works with colleagues to identify, organize, update and share Access Services procedures. 2.Maintains the Circulation RA account, troubleshooting circulation inquiries and per-forming circulation procedures through ALMA system. ALMA is the Integrated Library System that the State Library uses. 3.Works the reference desk as scheduled. 4.Performs routine stacks maintenance in assigned areas: shelf reading, paging materials, collecting items from outside book drop. Assists with inventories and special projects as needed using Dewey Decimal System and Library of Congress Classification as well as Evergreen and Sierra, and recommendation for improvements. 5.Assists Interlibrary Loan technician as needed. 6.Searches library materials for overdue or other items as assigned. 7.Assists collections with sorting and preparing books for discard, rehousing, or bindery. 8.Participates in library training and professional development activities. 9.Recommends training ideas on Service Desk Operations. 10.Sorts and distributes State Library mail to appropriate departments. 11.Creates flyers, signs, displays, and other materials for State Library events. 12.Interacts with community partners, stakeholders, and Access Services team to assist our partnerships as needed. 13.Works with Access Services team and other departments on library displays and selected engagement topics. 14.Arranges logistical elements of virtual programs for library outreach events, facilitates and monitors participants. 15.Schedules meetings and programs with community partners and stakeholders. 16.May assist other departments with projects as needed. 17.Performs other related duties as required. |
