Description of Duties: Describe in detail the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Descriptions should include the major end result of the task. Example: Types correspondence, reports, and other various documents from handwritten drafts for review and signature of the supervisor. Provides guided leadership and assistance to all students participating in daily recreational activities in the gym and recreation hall as well as community activities. Initiates and carries out new programs and activities that meet the needs of the ever-changing student population. Provides general supervision of activities. Attend and participate in Recreation and on campus meetings as needed, such as the daily Bridge meeting. Plan and sets up special activities or events and makes sure such activities are carried out. These activities are available to any of the students on campus who wish to participate. Maintains and monitors safety in program areas, communicates any behaviors of concern and improvements of behaviors of concern to necessary staff such as dorm counselors, security, counselors, etc. Within structured or unstructured activities within the gym, recreation hall or in the community, may have the opportunity to interact with students and provide students with problem-solving, encouragement to participate in recreation activities and other social skills building during those interactions. Special activities may include events held off campus within the community, special seasonal or annual activities held on campus such as the student formal and summer blast. Special activities may include such topics as preparing food/cooking, and budgeting as it relates to spending when out in the community, etc. Along with other Recreation personnel, is responsible for coordinating and supervising athletic activities, games and structured group activities. Is responsible for competitive/ team sports and instructing students on safe use of materials and equipment. Is responsible for safety and maintenance of fitness equipment and ensures maintenance is completed daily. Provides supervision to and from sites for community activities, sporting events, concerts, etc. Contacts Dietary Department (food requisition form) to arrange meals for students attending trips (when needed). Serves as chaperone and oversees general safety of students on trips. Assigns/oversees federal work study students who help carry out recreation activities. Maintains general housekeeping and necessary records. Order necessary equipment/materials. Duties include Pre-Ets related services for students. |

The assignments are given by the Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist. Work assignments are given through written communication and verbal statements. Reviews are made by observations, review of assignments and annual ratings. |
